As the seller, it’s your legal responsibility to do this, but the collection partner recovering your car will always assist and check the paperwork for you.

I’ve changed my mind about the quote. What do I do next?

If you change your mind after accepting a quote to scrap your car, it’s important you let us know as soon as possible. We’ll do our best to cancel your collection – but if you do not tell us and a recovery partner arrives to collect your car, they may charge you for the wasted journey.

Can I nominate someone else to be with the car when it’s picked up?

Yes, that’s absolutely fine. The strict law surrounding scrap metal collection does require someone over the age of 18 to be with the car when it’s picked up – but it doesn’t have to be the owner or the registered keeper of the car. If you’ll be nominating someone else, please just make sure that they have a form of photo ID with them on collection day (a passport or driving licence is ideal) and, if you’re not able to provide a V5C with the car, they’ll need to provide a proof of address too, dated within the last 3 months.
