Supporting UK charities

On average, households in the South East of England have more cars than any other part of the UK, with 1.34 cars for every residential address. With so many cars on the roads, it’s probably no surprise to discover that the South East’s road traffic accident figures are higher than any other region in the UK – with many of the cars involved written off by insurance companies.

At Car.co.uk, it’s accident damaged cars like these that we use to create vital funding for community charities. If you choose our service to help you scrap your car, a portion of the profit that it helps us to generate will directly support charitable organisations in communities around the UK.

How do scrap cars help us change people's lives?

At Car.co.uk, we transform scrap cars into funding for social value projects

Scrap cars and charity work might not be two things you think go hand-in-hand – but, at Car.co.uk, we’re trying to change that.

When you choose our service to recycle your vehicle and find scrap car buyers in the South East of the UK – you don’t just get an amazing price – you also get to know that you’re directly supporting a number of social value initiatives around the country.

A portion of the profit that your car generates will go towards running:

  • HMP Academies
  • Food redistribution networks
  • Assisted living services

As well as the people who are directly supported by these initiatives, the positive impact they have on communities spreads far and wide – reducing crime rates, easing the strain on the emergency services, and allowing tax money to be channelled to the areas in which it’s most urgently needed.

Frequently asked questions

We understand that scrapping your car isn’t something you’ll do every day – so we’ve put together some answers to our most commonly asked questions to help.

Yes, all of our collection partners have the necessary equipment to collect a car that has flat or damaged tyres.

No. The network of South East car scrap yards we work with must inspect the car before payment, to ensure it was described accurately during the quote. Payment will be made promptly after collection.

ATF is short for Authorised Treatment Facility – this is another name for a vehicle scrapyard, breaker’s yard or dismantler. An authorised facility follows strict legal guidelines to make sure vehicles go through a depollution process before parts are disposed of or recycled.

ELV is short for ‘End of Life Vehicle’. This is the official term used to describe a car that can no longer be used or repaired. End of life vehicles must be dismantled and then go through a depollution process at government Authorised Treatment Facilities (ATFs). Each of the scrap car buyers we work with in the South East meets these standards.

That’s okay. The scrap car pick-up services we work with in the South East will need someone to be with your car when it’s collected, but it doesn’t have to be the registered keeper or owner. If it won’t be you, please make sure your nominated person can provide a form of photo ID – and if you won’t be providing the vehicle’s V5C log book – a proof of address that’s dated within the last 3 months.

Yes, we will. All of the scrap car removal services we work with in the South East are equipped to collect and salvage a huge range of vehicles.
