What is an Authorised Treatment Facility?

An authorised treatment facility (ATF) is the name used to describe a scrap yard that has proved it follows government, environment agency, and DVLA guidelines around how a scrap car should be processed. Since ATFs are the only scrap yards that can begin the DVLA scrapping process, they’re the only scrap yards we deal with.

Do I have to be at the collection of my car?

No, you don’t. The law surrounding scrap cars stipulates that someone must be with your vehicle when it’s collected – but it doesn’t have to be the owner. If you’re planning to nominate someone else, please make sure they have a form of photo ID with them (a passport or driving licence is ideal) and if you can’t provide the V5C with the car, they’ll need to show a proof of address too.
