Do you give me a set time for collection?

Yes, we will. When you accept your quote, you’ll be able to pick from a range of available time slots. Simply choose the one that’s going to work around your day.

Why are prices different for different cars?

Generally, the scrap value of a car is based on how much it weighs. However, since we work with a number of specialists, they can often offer a little more for specific makes and models.

What do I do with the V5C log book?

As the keeper of the vehicle, it’s your responsibility to complete section 9 of the V5C log book – informing the DVLA that your car has been scrapped. Simply complete the details required and send the tear-out slip back to the address on the rear. It’s worth noting that the V5C changed design in April 2019, so documents issued after this date will require section 4 to be completed and returned.

Can I get paid before you collect?

No, unfortunately not. The scrap car dealers we work with in Wiltshire need to inspect the car before payment is issued – just to make sure it’s present and has been accurately described. Payment will be made shortly after collection.

How do I declare my car is off the road?

To declare your car off the road you should apply for a SORN through the DVLA. You’ll need to make sure the car is no longer used or stored on the road though, as you could be prosecuted if the car’s used when SORN.

Do I need to be present when you collect my scrap car in Wiltshire?

No, the law surrounding scrap metal collection explains that someone over the age of 18 needs to be present – but it doesn’t have to be the owner of the car. If you’re nominating someone else, please just make sure they have a proof of ID with them on collection day – and, if you can’t provide the V5C, they’ll need to show a proof of address too.
