Can a friend assist you with the collection, instead of me?

Yes, that’s fine. The strict rules around scrap collection mean that we do need someone to be with the car when it’s collected – but it doesn’t have to be the registered keeper or owner of the car. If you’ve got a nominated person in mind, please make sure they have a form of photo ID to show our driver. If you aren't supplying the V5C log book, you’ll also need to make sure they can provide a proof of address too.

Which part of the logbook will I need to fill out?

Both you and the person collecting your car will need to complete section 9 of the official DVLA V5C document. This confirms that you have sold your car to a scrap yard. It’s your responsibility to make sure this is complete and sent, but the collection partner who picks your car up will be more than happy to help.

My car is off the road, how do I let the DVLA know?

To declare your car as being kept off the road, you’ll need to make a Statutory Off Road Notification (SORN). To do so, contact the DVLA, either through their dedicated internet service or by post.

Are the prices you quote guaranteed?
