More than just the best scrap car prices in Hampshire

We make scrapping your vehicle simple

Generally, most drivers will only scrap one or two vehicles in the driving lifetime – so we understand that the process can sometimes feel like a bit of a mystery.

At Car.co.uk, we remove all the uncertainty from the process, replacing it with outstanding customer care every step of the way.

The commitment to great service begins with the quote you’ll receive. When you provide your registration and postcode, we’ll provide an instant price from our network of dealers. What’s more, every quote includes free collection from your location too.

When our collection partner picks your car up, they’ll help you to complete all your DVLA paperwork and point out exactly which parts of the V5C need to be returned in the post. This way, you can be absolutely confident that when your car leaves, your responsibility is totally wrapped up.

Your car will give something back to UK charities

Hampshire sees a great than average number of accidents occur on its roads than most other counties. With regular road traffic collisions on the A3, the A32, and the A272 – crashes cost local authorities in the region over £327 million each year – and it’s a strain that’s absorbed by emergency services and the NHS.

At Car.co.uk, we work hard to make sure cars damaged in accidents like these give something back to local communities. As such, a portion of the profit that your car generates for our business will be used to support good causes and charities here in the UK.

Proving that the motor industry can work for real people

Our unique way of working will see your scrap vehicle turned into funding for social value projects

Although cars are our passion, it's actually social value initiatives and community charity work that's at the heart of what we do.

After helping you to find a great price from a scrap car yard or vehicle recycler in Hampshire, a portion of the funds that your car helps us to generate will mean we can provide financial backing for a number of important causes, including:

  • HMP Academies: Helping to reduce reoffending rates
  • Supported living services: Reducing dependency on social housing
  • Food redistribution networks: Creating meals for those experiencing poverty

While these initiatives have a direct impact on the people who use them, the benefits are often felt much more widely. The charity projects we support have been proved to ease the huge demands put on taxpayer-funded services - including the police, local healthcare, the courts, offender management services – and many more.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about scrapping your car? No problem! If we haven’t covered them here – you’re welcome to get in touch using our instant messaging service.

Yes. The Certificate of Destruction (COD) won’t come from us; instead, it will be issued by the DVLA when the scrap yard handling your car reports its destruction. They will receive a copy of the COD, and they’ll send a copy on to you.

If you’re thinking about having your car scrapped, then it’s likely to be considered an ELV or ‘end of life vehicle’. ELVs must be handled and dismantled by government authorised treatment facilities – an accreditation held by each of our partner scrap yards.

Yes, we do. Most of our partner scrapyards are equipped to deal with everything from small passenger cars right up to large HGVs and plant machinery.

To let the DVLA know your car is being scrapped, you should complete and return section 9 of the V5C registration document. If you received your V5C after April 2019, you might have a newer version of the document – in which case it will be section 4 that you should remove, complete, and return.

Yes. You should do this by applying for a number plate retention certificate through the DVLA. You can apply either online or through the post. This process will remove the registration mark from the car – so you can either keep it for use on a future vehicle or transfer it to another car. It’s important that you complete this process before the car is collected.

An authorised treatment facility (or ATF) is a scrap yard that meets with strict government standards around the handling of scrap metals. Since ATFs are the only type of scrap yard that can begin the official DVLA scrapping process, they’re also the only facilities we work with.
